What’s the best way to upsell?

Everyone defaults to a modal that pops up when a user logs in. But you can only do that so many times before users are irritated.
- Are there more effective ways of doing this?
Existing users aren’t frequently going to the marketing site to understand premium features
- Therefore, it would be effective to help them be aware in-app, even if the next step is to talk to someone
🎯 Metrics to track
Depending on the kind of product and go-to-market strategy, these could be useful metrics:
- Conversion rate (paid, active, etc)
- # of calls booked
🔨 How to build with Bento
- Experiment with form factors: in particular, embedded cards, visual tags (which you can customize to say: “Premium” or “Upgrade” etc.
- If you have in-app upgrade experiences, make sure to offer a CTA that takes the user to the upgrade path
- We always recommend “escape hatches”, e.g. an alternative CTA that allows the user to chat with someone in sales or support
